# π How to Tag Your Posts
Tags help keep our community organized and make it easy to find discussions
about specific funds, strategies, or accounts. Please take a moment to
**add 1β3 relevant tags** whenever you create a new topic. Click below
the text entry box where it says "Enter tags, 3-15 characters."
---
## β
Why Use Tags?
- Makes your post **searchable** (e.g., `JEPI` or `Covered Call`).
- Groups related discussions (e.g., all United States ETFs).
- Keeps the forum clean without needing hundreds of sub-categories.
---
## π·οΈ Types of Tags You Can Use
### 1. Asset Class
Use one tag to show what type of investment youβre talking about:
`ETF`, `CEF`, `REIT`, `Stock`, `Bond`, `Preferred`, `BDC`, `Fund-of-Funds`
### 2. Strategy / Style
Use one tag for the investment style:
`Dividend`, `Covered Call`, `High Yield`, `Monthly Income`, `Growth + Income`, `Tax-Efficient`
### 3. Country / Market
If relevant, add where the investment is based:
`United States`, `Canada`, `Global`, `Emerging Markets`, `Sector`
### 4. Ticker
Always add the **fund ticker** if your post is about a specific security.
Examples: `SCHD`, `VYM`, `JEPI`, `QYLD`
### 5. Portfolio / Account
For tax or allocation posts, consider:
`401K`, `IRA`, `Taxable`, `Asset Allocation`, `Retirement`, `Decumulation`

---
## π― Best Practices
- **Stick to 1β3 tags** β enough to describe your post without clutter.
- **Use existing tags** (autocomplete will suggest them) instead of creating new variations.
- **Always include the ticker** if your post is about a specific fund.
